Detailed Patient Background

Kara is a 47 year old woman who has been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and suffers from joint pain and tenderness in multiple areas, including her bilateral hands, fingers, hips, knees, and low back. In addition to this, she has general fatigue and malaise which makes it difficult to keep up with her 3 teenagers and their busy lifestyles. She used to work full time but her RA symptoms have required her to modify her hours. Her medication has created compilations in her GI tract (including stomach issues and constipation). Recently she has been experiencing depression, most likely related to her chronic pain, sleeplessness, and modifications in the activities she previously enjoyed due to RA.

Radect's Impact

RA has had physical, emotional, and social consequences that affect Kara’s quality of life. Radect takes a team-based approach to interventions that address her whole person. Our software allows our yoga ambassadors to help set goals and track Kara’s progress over time. They create programs designed for her that support healthy sleep hygiene, gentle yoga to maximize joint range of motion, and meditation to reduce stress. They consult with her assigned physical therapist (PT) to ensure Kara's workout regime has exercises that will most benefit her pain management. Our PTs can also suggest activity modifications as needed. A mental health counselor can make recommendations that support the psychological effects Kara is experiencing to reduce feelings of depression. Our dietician will understand that an anti-inflammatory diet could reduce her RA symptoms, and design a nutritional plan of foods that will do this and promote gut health. Our medical provider can consult her regarding her medications and the side effects and address her GI distress to ensure no symptom is overlooked.

At Radect, we ensure the whole person is addressed within their health plans. We track progress over time to make sure the interventions and treatment plans are adhered to as well as providing the desired outcome. We want to help Kara and others like her live their lives to the fullest.
